In 2025 we...

  • Grew our audience by 30% and sold 72.13% of our possible capacity!

  • Engaged 1130 local school-aged children in activities and events, including author visits to 4 local schools.

  • Provided 160 free tickets for U18s for author events plus 3 bursary workshop places for those in financial need.

  • Delivered a fortnight of events workshops and walks for the first time.

  • Engaged over 4,000 local audience members to embrace literacy, empathy, discussion and community.

We already have big plans for 2026 - when we will be going ALL IN to join the National Literacy Trust’s Year of Reading.

We hope you will join us for the exciting next chapter of our festival’s story.

“I had a wonderful time at the Bury Festival: an engaged and intelligent audience, an excellent chair and a very welcoming set of hosts. I'd strongly recommend it to any author.”

"One of the most welcoming literary festivals I’ve had the honour of speaking at. Without question, attending Bury Lit 2023 was one of my highlights of the year."

"Bury is a friendly, well attended and well organised festival in a most delightful location: it was a pleasure to be a part of it in 2023. The talks were interesting and so were the questions."
