TICKETS​

We advise booking all tickets in advance - including those that are free of charge. Tickets may be available to purchase on the door for some events, according to availability and returns, but it is not guaranteed.
Children under the age of 14 years must be accompanied by a paying adult.

It is our goal to offer accessible ticket prices for all events, whist ensuring we pay our speakers fairly.​

CHILDREN'S EVENTS
​
Our children's events are designed to encourage engagement with reading for pleasure while strengthening literacy and learning skills.
​
Child: FREE - but they must be accompanied by an adult.
Accompanying Adults: £2.50 or FREE if you buy a book for the child you attend with.
AUTHOR EVENTS
​
Standard: £10 | Concession: £5 | Under 18: FREE
Concessions: students in full time education and those in receipt of benefits.
SPECIAL OFFERS

For selected events we offer:
- a +drink ticket, which allows you to pre-order a drink to collect on arrival for a discounted price
- a +book ticket, which offers a discount on the RRP of a featured author's book if you pre-order to collect on arrival

DISCOUNTS
​
We run a BRONZE, SILVER and GOLD TICKET discount scheme that offers reduced ticket prices for those who attend multiple author events over the course of the festival.
The relevant discount will be automatically applied to eligible orders at the checkout.​​​​​​​​​​​

OTHER EVENTS
​
Workshops, Walks, Fundraisers and Film Screenings run by our partners are priced to reflect the expertise, expense and time involved in delivering these high-quality activities run by professionals.
Although our discount scheme does not apply to these tickets we may offer time-limited discounts which will be advertised on our social media and we can offer a limited number of bursary places to those experiencing financial hardship.

SUNDAY 5th OCTOBER


Dame Harriet Walter DBE is a British Actress and winner of a Laurence Olivier Award as well as numerous nominations, including a Tony Award, three Primetime Emmy Awards, and a Screen Actors Guild Award. In 2011, she appointed Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) for services to drama.Renowned for her star-studded portrayals in Succession, Killing Eve and Ted Lasso, Dame Harriet Walter is also one of Britain’s most esteemed Shakespearean actors.
Dame Harriet will read from her book, She Speaks! What Shakespeare’s Women Might Have Said, intertwined with tales of her stage and screen work. This will be followed by taking questions from the audience and there will be a book sale and signing after the show.

A screening of Heaven in Auschwitz has been scheduled by Abbeygate Cinema to complement our event 'The Teacher of Auschwitz - Wendy Holden' .
Heaven in Auschwitz is a documentary film that tells the fascinating and incredible story of 13 Jewish survivors of the Holocaust in former Czechoslovakia, during the II World War. These men and women, that back then were children, were taught by Fredy Hirsch, who changed their lives forever.

It has always been our goal to offer events for writers as well as readers; this year, we're achieving that dream!
We're delighted to be teaming up with Gold Dust Writer Mentoring to bring you a full day of Creative Writing Workshops brought to you by our fabulous Gold Dust mentoring team, founded by novelist Jill Dawson.

All events are suitable for writers (16+) with any level of experience and at any stage in their writing journey.

CLOSING GALA EVENT

Join Philippa Gregory, as she takes you on a journey through the history you thought you knew. In her new novel, Boleyn Traitor, she returns to the Tudor court and a woman famously branded as a traitor, but whose real story was far more complex – the mysterious
Jane Boleyn. Bringing the Boleyn traitor out of the shadows, this is an explosive story of one woman’s survival in the deadly dance of the Tudor Court. It will be a fascinating evening of entertaining historical insight and unforgettable storytelling.
Philippa Gregory is an internationally renowned historian and novelist. She holds a PhD in eighteenth-century literature at the University of Edinburgh and is a fellow of the Royal Historical Society and the Universities of Sussex and Cardiff, an honorary research fellow at Birkbeck University of London and she was awarded a CBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours for her services to literature and to charity. Her novels have been adapted for stage and screen and in 2023 she published her groundbreaking history book, Normal Women - 900 Years of Making History, which was also released as a podcast, a teen edition and a series for young children.
There will be a post-show reception including a book signing.
